Homophobia or belief?

Been thinking about this news story this morning. A christian couple banned from fostering by a council because they wouldn't tell children that homosexuality is a 'good thing'. Trying to keep an open mind while also realising that as a christian I am bound to be biased. I do see some things that the judges said to be disturbing .For example that the right of homosexuals to equality “should take precedence” over the right of Christians to manifest their beliefs and moral values. And that there is no place in British law for Christian beliefs.
While I accept that we live in a multi cultural age, we must realise that Britain is what it is today because of a law based on Christianity. Are we going to throw out everything that comes with our Christian heritage. And christians aren't the only ones who think that homosexuality is wrong. Will the same happen to Muslims or Jews who stand by their beliefs? And does disagreeing with the politically correct standpoint on something mean that you will be a bad parent? Or does having a strong belief system make you a better parent? And thinking that something is wrong doesn't mean that you condemn those who disagree with you. Whatever happened to tolerance and balance? There are things that I think are right and things that I think are wrong. But I'm not going to tell people that they are wrong to disagree with me. They have the right to their opinion, and I respect that. It would be nice if our legal system could see the benefits of having a strong faith community helping you to bring up your children, rather than just seeing what they think is wrong with christianity.

Why blog?

I am just contemplating why people blog. Is it the new way of writing a diary? But the point of a diary surely is that it is a private thing and no-one else reads it. And that certainly isn't the point of a blog. But then probably no-one will read this! Unless I post on facebook with the URL. And I don't know that I have enough confidence in the interest people would have in my random thoughts to do that. And if  nobody reads a blog then I might as well do an online diary that only I can read. Is my argument going round in circles? So after advice from people on facebook i will now post the link to it.
On another subject, I was playing with the new nintendo 3ds today at Braehead. It was fun, and if you were looking for a handheld console it is very good. But quite expensive and the screen is small. The 3d effect is brilliant. And you can make a Mii from a picture of yourself! Fun.
