I have just realised that I haven't posted a single blog in 2014. I know I am not the most regular of bloggers, but that is shocking and I have to put that right before the new year starts.
It is the nature of a new year that you look back over the past 12 months and forward to what is to come in the next 12.
If I look at our headlines for 2014 then nothing particularly exciting has happened. No births or weddings and only one significant birthday, which is quite unusual for us recently. But we did get the news that there is to be an new baby in the family next year, I celebrated my 50th (which may or may not be a cause for celebration!), we went on an amazing cruise and we began to get an idea of the character of our grandson (cheeky!).
But life is not about headlines. It is about living from one day to the next. It is about relationships, feelings and people. We have had ups and downs. Our family and friends have had highs and lows and we have lived through them and tried to help when we could and be there for them. We have spent time with our children and grandson. I managed to take a photo every day of the year.
So what lies in store in 2015? We are expecting a new grandchild and look forward to meeting them and supporting Rhona and Alistair as they deal with the challenges that parenthood will bring. We will watch Daniel grow and develop. We will see Catherine move into 3rd year at uni and the work involved with this (and hopefully find a part time job).
And there will be the unforeseen things. Stuff that we never expected to happen. That is the excitement of a new year. What will happen and how will we cope with it? I'll try and blog a bit more often so that I don't get to Dec 31st 2015 and realise I haven't done anything with this site for a year! But I don't plan to take a photo every day next year!
